Pine
Lykes Bros. has
been a progressive leader in the commercial forestry
industry since the early 1950’s. We currently manage over
52,000 acres of both native and planted pine. Our planted
pine plantations consist of several varieties including
South Florida Slash, North Florida Slash, Longleaf, and Sand
pine. These varieties have proven to be excellent
selections for the South Florida climate. Our native pine
stands are pristine areas which are almost exclusively managed for habitat conservation.
We manage our
plantations to promote rapid growth and excellent forest
health. This aggressive management allows us to thin our
stands early which produces revenue while increasing the
quality of the habitat for wildlife.
Our pine production serves as the raw materials for
landscape mulch, pulpwood, and Bio-Fuels.
Eucalyptus
We currently manage
11,000 acres of Eucalyptus, making us the 2nd
largest producer in the continental United States. Our goal
is to produce a fast growing tree which is suitable to the
South Florida climate. 100% of our Eucalyptus production is
for landscaping mulch. Mulch made from Eucalyptus is
superior to all other types of much because of it’s aroma,
color, and insecticide properties which come from the oils in the wood.
