Eucalyptus

We currently manage 11,000 acres of eucalyptus, making us one of the largest producers in the continental United States. Our goal is to produce a fast-growing tree which is suitable to the South Florida climate.

Lykes Bros. has also worked closely with Florida universities and other researchers in developing a high-yielding strain of eucalyptus. These efforts benefit the national push toward renewable fuels and domestic energy. The eucalyptus' ability to reproduce makes it a prime candidate for future bioenergy feedstocks.

Pine

We currently manage more than 52,000 acres of both native and planted pine. Our planted pine plantations consist of several varieties including South Florida Slash, North Florida Slash, Longleaf, and Sand pine. The , or Densa Pine, is a favorite because of its ability to thrive in the harsh climate of South Florida. Our native pine stands are pristine areas that are almost exclusively managed for habitat conservation.
